The Slow Textiles Group is an exciting independent group that promotes New Design Thinking for Textile Design today.

The Slow Textiles Group inspires, edifies and supports textile designers and practitioners at every stage of their professional lives. Our core members are design specialists, innovators and trendsetters.

What we do

The Slow Textiles Group promotes and trains the best British and international textile designers in slow methodologies, processes and Systems & Services Design.

Cultural, social and resource capital are fostered by the core group's expertise, working methods and design thinking.

The Group fosters textile design research themes and programmes of research and applies new knowledge to contemporary textiles design for public consumption, expansion of the research field and professional development.

Look out for the group's books and resources to teach yourself these methods and gain insight into independent post-doctoral research in contemporary British Textiles Design.

The group has an open access membership that promotes textiles 'best practice' and gives designers and producers value context, brand narrative, funding structures, media exposure and personal, professional and cultural meaning.

YOUR participation contributes to the group's role as incubator for innovation, quality, knowledge transfer and originality.
